The Cactus Rooms Musician’s Night is rapidly growing in popularity since it began in May, aimed at musicians who are already gigging or about to be gigging, looking for opportunities to try out new songs or practice existing songs and just share their love of music.

So if you are either a person who loves excellent original music, or an artist wanting to get exposure this is very much one for you.

The bar will be open and the usual lovely Bloomsburys vibes will be all around you.

Kelly Bourne is a singer, songwriter, and acoustic guitarist based in Kent, England (specifically Tenterden/Ashford). Known for a voice that balances power with fragility, she performs original folk and acoustic music. 

Discography: She released the album Cause Of The Consequence in July 2024. Recent singles include “My Way Out” (2025) and “Breathing is easy” (2024). 

Performance: She frequently performs at venues and festivals across South East England, such as the Faversham Hop Festival and The Quarter Sessions.

Cassius West is a British singer-songwriter from Maidstone, Kent. He delivers impressive guitar-driven performances, flowing seamlessly between indie, pop, rock and folk. ● Matt Dolphin

Matt Dolphin is a singer, writer and visual artist based in Kent, UK. 

“Powerful and moving…stark, desolate and downcast, yet oddly life-affirming at the same time” (album review, Sounds XP website) 

Matt’s melancholic croon and wayward yet self-assured songcraft recall Nick Drake, Lee Hazlewood, Nick Cave and Jeff Buckley. He has performed and recorded extensively as a solo artist, and previously played with Joe Murphy (AKA maverick singer-songwriter Sergeant Buzfuz) in North London experimentalists Bedlam Opera as well as wielding banjo for country/pop/gospel outfit Reverend Casy. 

Matt has just finished recording his EP here at Bloomsburys with Russ Pay, who will be looking forward to accompanying him.

I am a singer-songwriter/pianist from Tenterden who writes piano based songs. My style derives from a pianistic background in classical, jazz and pop, and my songwriting has been described as heartfelt, nuanced and ethereal. I have produced many albums from my home in Tenterden, most recently ‘Precious’, a sleep song…’escapism in its purest form’ (Mesmerised Magazine).
