LOVE YOUR GARDEn

FEBRUARY 2012

"The shortest day has passed, and whatever nastiness of weather we may look forward to in January and February, at least we notice that the days are getting longer. Minute by minute they lengthen out. It takes some weeks before we become aware of the change. It is imperceptible even as the growth of a child, as you watch it day by day, until the moment comes when with a start of delighted surprise we realize that we can stay out of doors in a
twilight lasting for another quarter of a precious hour."
- Vita Sackville-West

To cheer us all up in the month of February we will be selling the bulbs we planted in November that are starting to show their faces. These include Narcissi, tete a tete, Hyacinths, Single and double snowdrops and anemonies among others.

We are now taking orders for bare rooted hedging and various trees and large specimen shrubs. We are happy to quote for anything from one off trees to replace those lost in the winter right through to larger projects where you are looking for a competitive price.

Our gardens are set to become more of a place for relaxation and inspiration during this coming year. We plan to plant existing and future stock in a way that will help our customers to visualise plants in which they are interested in a natural, healthy and contextual setting. We will continute to sell a selection of popular and interesting perennial plants and shrubs, along with seasonal bedding, as well as freshly cut flowers and plant related gifts.

Currently we can take orders for many plants including unusual or bulk orders via our farm shop and plan to expand this facility to our online store in the near future. Once our shop staff have taken your order details (confirmed via deposit) we will ususally be able to have the plants ready for collection within a week, or we can offer a delivery service if required. By ordering in this way we will usually be able to offer the most competetive prices and free local delivery on orders over £50.

Gardens At Bloomsburys

Originally set up as a nursery, the whole site has undergone extensive refurbishment and alteration, which is ongoing, so don’t leave it too long before your next visit!

We pride ourselves on sourcing and carefully selecting only the best quality and unusual plants, and take great care that they stay that way. From 99p herb pots to a £2000 olive tree, there will be plenty to inspire you. We have tried to create more of a natural garden setting with plants arranged in contextual settings so you can see how they might look in your garden. Within the plants we have a variety of new and reclaimed items from tree stumps, to old agricultural tools and equipment that will add to the interest of your garden. All of our pots are guaranteed frost-proof, apart of course from the lovely genuine Greek Amphorae dotted about in various stages of decomposition!

Our stoneware is carefully selected to include as wide a variety of tastes and budgets as possible within the overall brand of Bloomsburys. Recently added is the awe - inspiring range of extraorinarily sensual sculptures hand carved from solid stone by Jo Ansell, who offers soft stone carving workshops (see arts & crafts page) - count us in! We are always happy to answer enquiries and to take orders. Just call us on 01580 292992.
